Calvin Daughtery ACWA Scholarship Recipient

Calvin Daugherty of Silverton, Texas was the recipient of the 2008 American Chuck Wagon Association Scholarship. He is a graduate of Silverton High School. Calvin became fascinated with chuck wagons when he was in seventh grade when he helped friends in a cookoff. His parents purchased him a wagon for a Christmas gift. He worked hard at refurbishing the wagon and added the chuck box to finish the restoration. Calvin has used his wagon as FFA projects throughout high school. He received numerous FFA awards including his Lone Star Degree and most recently his FFA American Degree. Calvin was awarded the American Chuck Wagon Association Rookie of the Year Award in 2006. He is also a life time member of the ACWA. Calvin is currently attending Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas, where he is majoring in agriculture education.

In high school, Calvin received numerous awards including Mr. SHS, Citizenship Award, Plainview Daily Herald's Tomorrow's Leader Award, Silverton High School Pep Squad Beau, Silverton High School Who's Who Award and Most Friendliest Award. He is also president of the FFA chapter and president of the Silverton youth board.

Calvin's hobbies are participating in chuck wagon competitions with his family as hoodlums, catering with the chuck wagon, riding horses, branding and braiding rope.
